Under the Sea- Addy turns 3!
Last week, our princess and first born turned THREE years old. Three. Three short, beautiful years of life in the books! I look at how she is grown and realized how quickly her first three years have flown by. We are surprised every day at her abilities. Addisyn never really took on a toddler role. She began talking so early that she’s been a little person ever since she hit one. I gaze at her…amazed by her beauty, her tender heart, her compassion for others, her love for Jesus, her sense of humor, and her intelligence. How can so much awesomeness be packed into such a tiny person?
Three-years-old finds us in such a fun place for Addisyn and little bro. Addy’s current favorite things are dancing, dress up, spending every second outside, reading books, coloring, helping to bake, and playing with her brother. She loves riding her bike, blowing bubbles, playing in the sand, and she’s been super excited to start Soccer this past month. She takes on the big girl role and wants to be a helper, she “mothers” Josiah in such a sweet, tender way (and then…20 seconds pass and she’s comically scolding him). She is working on recognizing and writing letters, counting regularly, and takes pride when she accomplishes a task independently. She remains around 40th percentiles for height and weight, and got an amazing 3-year-old check up this past week.
When it came time to party plan, Addy asked repeatedly for Toy Story, as she is Toy Story crazy. I spent weeks pinning pictures and debating how to make a Toy Story party girly and frilly to accommodate Addisyn’s personality. A few weeks before her party, Addisyn came to me and said, “Mommy, I would really, REALLY, like a mermaid cake for my birthday!” Now, that’s an idea I can get down and girly with! It was off to finding the most fabulous mermaid ideas to make going under the sea with Addy a super fun day!
We had fun, and friends, and a beautiful day on party day! We kicked the morning off with her first soccer game, and then partied the day away. The house was decked out for Under the Sea fun, there was buried treasure as party gifts, a full on treasure hunt in the back yard for the kiddos, lots of fun and sun, and delicious food. We had a Sebastian Sandwich bar, sea pearls cheese puffs, driftwood pretzels, blueberry caviar, ocean waves potato chips and more, all topped off with mermaid cupcakes complete with treasure gems. There were shells, and sand buckets, fishing nets, strands of pearls for the mermaids and ring pops for the mer-men, balloons, bubbles, and so much fun. It was a fabulous day! Thank you so much for all of our family and friends who came to celebrate our baby girl turning 3! It was a magical under the sea bash!
Addy had an extended birthday celebration with friends and family in town, and partying non-stop. We celebrated as a family on her actual birthday with pink pancakes at the birthday girls request. We then took a trip to the farm for lunch, ice cream, and animal fun. After nap time, we played Candyland and dress-up, played outside, blew bubbles, and ate dinner on the deck with a meal all of Addy’s choosing. We sang, we laughed, we loved on our girl! We wrapped up birthday celebrating with a birthday play date with more buddies! We dove into her requested mermaid cake, played outside, played inside, and had fun with friends! By the end of the day on Tuesday, Addisyn and little bro were completely partied out, and completely happy!
Thank you to everyone who came to help us celebrate Addy! <3 You all made her feel like a true Mermaid princess! <3
