A Whole Year of Josiah! We Got Ears, Say Cheers!
Last week we celebrated Josiah’s FIRST birthday! I cannot believe my little guy has turned ONE! This has been the fastest trip around the sun yet. It seems like yesterday I held him in my arms for the first time and eagerly watched the hospital room door open for Addisyn to come inside and meet her baby brother. Those moments of being a family of four for the first time will never fade away. I think back on those memories and see how much my tiny people have grown, and how much fun we have had in Josiah’s first year!
So, it was time for a party! Josiah is not a fan of television, but if he happens to hear Mickey Mouse’s voice pop on the TV, he is entranced. He loves to get down to the “Hot Dog Dance”, and since we just returned from a fabulous Disney trip, there was no question as what his party theme was. We decked the halls for Mickey Mouse’s Clubhouse and put on our ears for some clubhouse style fun!
We had a small party with few close buddies of Josiah’s. We dined at the Hot Diggity Dog bar complete with a plethora of fixings and sides. The Clubhouse Menu also included Minnie’s Garden Vegetables, Donald and Daisy’s Taco Dip, Salsa, & Queso, Pete’s PB&J, Goofy’s Gold Fish & Gooey Fish, and Josiah’s favorite: Mickey Ear’s Cupcakes. We ate, we played, we laughed, and we let Josiah get down and dirty with his cake although Justin and I were both disappointed when he didn’t actually get dirty! He took it slow and steady and totally enjoyed himself!
The biggest attraction for the kiddos was Josiah’s birthday gift from Nana and Papa, a massive train table that found its way to center stage of the “clubhouse” playroom and kept the kiddos occupied for quite some time. The best part about Josiah’s birthday party is that it was relaxed and the kiddos and adults all had fun. They little ones played, colored, took fun photos in the photo booth, and partied down. Josiah received some amazing first birthday gifts! Cash for his savings, books, trains and cars galore (his favorites!), a basketball goal and soccer net combo, a remote control Mickey truck, puzzles, and more. He thankfully had plenty of little hands to help unwrap his gifts because he was more occupied with his balloons, ribbons, and boxes! By party end, he was completely worn out (in a good way) and it was time for a clubhouse nap!
He had hung in for a few days of partying. Two days before, on his actual birthday, we gave him a few gifts as a family, grabbed dinner out, and brought home tasty donuts for him to enjoy his first solo donut, which he was very pleased about. He was a fan of the singing, a huge fan of the balloons, and big fan of all the sprinkles that fell from his donut! Big sister gave him the gift she had requested to buy him: a Buzz Lightyear t-shirt, and she was tickled pink to see him open it. We made the day about him and enjoyed some quality family time when Dad came in from work.
Thanks for ALL of the help from Nana and Papa as they arrived late Friday night and helped Mom and Dad scramble to get the Clubhouse decorated and all the treats prepared. Thank you to everyone who came to love on our boy and have some fun with us. Josiah is SO very loved and we had such a fun day celebrating his first year of life with you all!
See you all real soon! 😉
