Josiah’s 17 Months and Sweet Summer Time

PC: Leah Nisbet- Journey Through Life Photography

Yesterday, Josiah turned 17-months-old. That boy has made so many advancements in a short one month time span, and continues to keep us on our toes.  His current obsessions are dancing any time and all the time, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & Bubble Guppies, making people laugh, and WATER. He has been loving the summer time pool and beach trips and definitely finds his happy place while getting down and dirty in the sand, sun, and salt water! He even requests “the beach” frequently throughout most days. He loves being outside, climbing on everything, throwing things in the trash can (yes, that one’s a fun one), feeding himself independently, bubbles, playing with cars and balls, and recently has decided that he loves to color. His favorite things are the “puppy” Gunner, finding birds and airplanes outside, and being asked to help with any task; his favorite chores are helping feed the dog and put clothes into the dryer. He wants to do exactly everything big sister does and stays right on her heels. Addy is so sweet and loving with him, and always takes her big sister role seriously looking out for him.

Addy has wrapped up dance for the summer completing her recital for Show Week. We are taking a break to enjoy lots of summer fun and sun and do some other activities this summer. She’s been enjoying the beach, the pool, playing outside, riding her tricycle, and her imagination runs wild. She is so into dress-up and pretend play. Whether she’s decked out in princess attire from head to toe or crawling around on all fours only answering to the name Puppy. It’s so fun to see her creativity and imagination blossom! She loves to help me with tasks around the house, takes an great interest in our garden and flowers, and likes to help take care of Gunner. Her favorite things recently are playing educational games on her Ipad, raisins, popsicles, taking pictures of everyone and everything with her new camera she just got from Granny, and swimming. She’s her usual funny, sweet, carefree self and I so hope both our children can stay that way.

We just wrapped up two trips in the last two weeks. We went back to visit family and friends in Danville, and then we took our first mini-vacay of the summer to the Outerbanks.  Both were lots of fun although I’m already dreaming of the OBX and we just finished unpacking. We had an amazing time spending long days on the beach there, enjoying our favorite OBX restaurants and spots, taking the kids to play mini-golf for the first time ever, shopping, going to the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo, and squeezing in some R&R too. We spent a long weekend celebrating Daddy for Father’s Day. We showered him with gifts and drawings, cooked his favorite meal for dinner, and spent the whole weekend laughing with and loving on him. He’s kind of awesome and deserves it. Addisyn had so much fun that she teared up when we got in the car to go home. I would say that was a success 😉

May your summer days be cool and breezy and your summer nights be filled with fireflies, popsicles, and good company!
