Last Moments of Summer- Josiah’s 18 Month Update

It’s been over a year-and-a-half since we welcomed our sweet little guy into our family, and what joy that time has been!  I catch myself watching Addy and JoJo and am so overwhelmed with with gratitude for their love.  I remember when I was pregnant with Josiah, being concerned (like most Mom’s I’m sure…) that I wouldn’t know how to handle two children, or that Addisyn would feel slighted in some way.  Then I look at them now, at ages 3 and 1, and they are inseperable. Truly inseperable… and it’s so beautiful.

Addisyn is busy enjoying summer. Each day she requests the beach, the pool, or the park. She just wants to be outside whether she’s blowing bubbles, drawing with sidewalk chalk, or helping Mommy and Daddy water the garden and flowers.  She is getting excited about starting school next month.  We made some changes to her pre-school and decided she will go to The Little Gym for pre-school in their Wonderkids program! She is beyond excited! She’ll also be doing gymnastics and dancing again in the fall, so as we wind down summer, she has lots to look forward too! Not to mention, being a big sister is quite exhausting in itself.

Josiah…my spirited child!  He sure keeps us on our toes, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.  His vocabulary has exploded recently; he impressed even his pediatrician at his 18 month appointment.  He received an awesome 18 month check-up as far as growth and development.  Sadly, he needs prayer for some other issues that we are learning more about. He goes this month to a pediatric hematologist for answers and guidance, so lift our little guy up that we get good news at our appointment. Otherwise, he is a happy, growing, smiling, climbing, falling, laughing, jumping, amazing little boy.  Josiah loves being outside, to the point that he occasionally cries just because he actually has to go back inside.  He is so strong-willed, and independent. Recently, he’s taken pride in being mommy’s helper.  He takes such pride in any little task that he completes, but his favorite is feeding and taking care of his buddy, Gunner.

While I truly love the summer, I’m not at all sad it’s winding down.  We are enjoying our last beach days, but I’m already excited to welcome the fall chill and all the festivities that come along with it. We’ve spent the last few weeks doing trips to the aquarium, the Botanical Gardens, we’ve had family here to visit, we’ve traveled to visit grandparents and great grandparents, and enjoyed the slow pace of the summer days. While summer is great…in just a few weeks, we’ll say “Bye, Felicia”, and welcome in my most favorite season. Here’s to soaking up those last moments of the sunshine and sand, and making some sweet memories to say sayonara summer with!

XOXO
